Our Story

The story of how Hans and Alli first met could only be described as the opening to the cutest romantic comedy you've ever seen. Just kidding - we matched on an arguably very pretentious dating app called The League in November of 2018. Hans lured Alli in with a bio full of gibberish and a call to action: "message me for the decryption key". Disappointingly, there was no decryption key and the message ended up just being a string of random letters and symbols. Nevertheless, Hans and Alli met up for drinks at a bar called Guthrie's in Chicago's Wrigleyville neighborhood. They spent hours playing Battleship, laughing, and wondering how they'd never come across each other during undergrad at Northwestern University. They became inseparable over the next few weeks, going to dinners together, watching Packers games, sharing Raclette at the Christkindlmarket, and making green bean casserole in Alli's studio apartment for Hans's office Thanksgiving celebration. The rest is history, with Alli quickly deciding she would marry Hans and never leaving him alone again for the next 5+ years. They also later established that it was probably for the best that the two never crossed paths at Northwestern (we've both done a lot of maturing since our college years).

Hans and Alli got engaged on a warm summer night on the rooftop of their newly-purchased Wicker Park condo in May of 2022. A few days later, we left for a celebration trip to Italy where we travelled to Positano, Rome, Lake Como, and Milan. During this trip, we also spent time in Florence where we bought our wedding bands on the Ponte Vecchio. We are so excited to return to Florence with all of our favorite people to seal the deal!
